AS THE province of Cebu gears up for the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit this week, Gov. Pamela Baricuatro appealed for full cooperation from the Cebuanos as thousands of delegates and visitors from different countries expected to flock to Cebu for the international undertaking.

The governor said the event puts Cebu in the global stage, being the lone province in the country to host the meeting of ASEAN leaders.

Baricuatro said hosting the event opens an opportunity for the island by showcasing its hospitality, culture, and organizational excellence.

“Long-term impacts of our collective efforts will be felt in Cebu’s trade and tourism, continuing to elevate our economy and prestige,” Baricuatro said.

The governor urged the Cebuanos to be more welcoming, show respect and hospitality to the delegates, visitors, and even international media.

Cleanliness must also be observed especially in public spaces and streets, Baricuatro said.

This week, traffic congestion and road closures are expected in some areas in Cebu especially in places near the meeting venues of the summit.

The governor urged the public to plan ahead and allot extra time for travel as this may affect their daily travel time,.

The governor also reminded the public to be patient, cooperative, calm, courteous tp help ensure the event to be smooth and safe.
