Tree saves cop from falling off cliff after bike mishap in Cebu City
A TREE saved a policeman from severe injuries following a motorcycle crash in Barangay Mabini, Cebu City past midnight on Saturday, May 2.
Cpl. Jemar Nodado Solamillo, a 30-year-old member of tge Special Weapons and Tactics Team of the Mandaue City Police Office, suffered a fractured foot when he collided with another motorcycle.
Solamillo’s injury could have been more severe had it not been for a tree.
Investigation said that the policeman was driving a Honda Click and was negotiating a curved and downhill portion of the road when he collided with another motorcycle.
Police said the collision occured when the other motorcycle encroached on the lane occupied by the policeman.
The impact threw both drivers off their motorcycles but while the other driver was able to stand up and flee, the policeman failed to find his balance and rolled toward a cliff.
Luckily, the policeman landed on a tree, saving him from rolling down the cliff.
A motorist who happened to pass by rescued the policeman and brought him to the North General Hospital.
Police said an investigation is ongoing to identify the driver of the other motorycle.(CDB)
