PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the tragic shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that resulted in three fatalities and 13 injuries.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President expressed deep distress over the violence and has ordered law enforcement to implement heightened security protocols across educational institutions nationwide to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The directive aims to transition toward a more robust framework for campus security, ensuring that educational environments remain safe havens for learning, Castro said in an Inquirer.net report.

On the other hand, Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has taken an active role in the immediate aftermath, coordinating with government agencies to provide comprehensive assistance to the affected families. His office has committed to covering all hospital expenses for the survivors and providing support for funeral arrangements for those who lost their lives.

"A school should always be a place of learning, safety, and hope," Romualdez stated in an official release. He emphasized that his office is working closely with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to ensure that the victims and the broader school community receive the necessary psychosocial support and trauma-informed care to navigate the recovery process.(Jane Michelle Buenaventura, PIT Comm Intern)
