THE local government unit of Danao City has pushed for its priority development proposals before the Regional Development Council- Central Visayas (RDC-7).

Among these projects are the Danao City Sports Complex and Convention Center, the establishment of a Solid Waste Management Facility, riverbank protection in areas affected by Typhoon Tino, and the proposed reclamation projects.

The city government is seeking support and endorsement to help fund these initiatives as part of its infrastructure development and sustainable growth, said Danao City Information Officer Michelle Mondigo.

“At this stage, these remain proposed priority projects and are still subject to further studies, consultations, planning discussions, and validation with the appropriate local committees, government agencies, and stakeholders,” Mondigo told MyTV Cebu.

The initial estimated cost for the Sports Complex and Convention Center is P1 billion, while the budget for Solid Waste Management Facility is pegged at P70 million.

However, Mondigo said the project costs are not yet final and are just “indicative estimates" as these remain subject to validation, technical assessment, scope refinement, and the consultation process.

For the reclamation projects, the city is still coordinating with the Philippine Reclamation Authority, while the riverbank protection structures are still being discussed.

The development project proposal received support from Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro. It was also referred to the concerned national government agencies for further study and assessment.(MyTVCebu)
