Want to work in Europe? Croatia opens 785 hospitality jobs to Filipinos
HUNDREDS of Filipino job seekers are being considered for hospitality work in Croatia, where nine hotel employers are interviewing 943 shortlisted applicants for 785 available positions.
The two-day hiring activity, which started Monday in Mandaluyong City, covers positions for hotel staff, chefs, waiters and housekeeping personnel, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The recruitment drive coincided with the signing of new implementing guidelines between the DMW and the Croatian Employment Service (CES), establishing procedures for recruitment, documentary requirements and the responsibilities of both governments in protecting and monitoring Filipino workers.
Migrant Workers Undersecretary Jainal Rasul Jr. and CES Director General Ante Loncar signed the guidelines on Monday as the two countries continued their hiring partnership.
The agreement aims to streamline recruitment and provide applicants with a government-coordinated process, while ensuring that employment arrangements follow established procedures.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said Filipino workers’ skills and experience continue to make them competitive in the international hospitality industry.
“Croatia is getting one of our core strengths in our labor market, which is workers from the hospitality sector. They are top-notch and world-class, and we are proud to say that it is you,” Cacdac told applicants during the event, as quoted by Inquirer.net.
Croatian Ambassador to the Philippines Nebojša Koharović also welcomed the prospect of Filipino workers joining the country’s workforce, urging them to sustain the positive reputation of Filipinos already working there.
“You are part of society,” Koharović said in the same report.
Now in its second year, the Philippines-Croatia government-to-government hiring initiative seeks to expand employment opportunities through coordinated recruitment while promoting safeguards for migrant workers.
Cacdac said the partnership should go beyond providing employment opportunities by promoting decent working conditions, greater security and a better future for Filipino workers and their families.
The DMW advised Filipinos interested in future recruitment opportunities to register through its official online portal at portal.dmw.gov.ph and monitor announcements from its Pre-Employment and Government Placement Bureau.
The department has yet to disclose how many of the 943 shortlisted applicants have received job offers.(MyTVCebu)
