Rain or Shine outshines Ginebra for 2nd straight win
THE Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got some measure of revenge after they tripped the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 110-99, in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Sunday night, July 26, at the Araneta Coliseum.
Chalking up a second straight win after starting the tournament with back-to-back losses in Group B, the Elasto Painters got back at the Kings–the team that ousted them in six games in the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.
Ginebra fell to 1-2 as it failed to make it two-in-a-row after scoring a blowout 115-85 win over the Blackwater Bossing last week.
Rain or Shine led by as many as 18 points in the easy win that saw import Aaron Fuller pile up 37 points and 12 rebounds. Caelan Tiongson was extra hot for the Elasto Painters, going 5-of-9 from three-point area to finish with a conference-high 21 points.
Adrian Nocum and Jhonard Clarito helped Rain or Shine’s cause by tallying 13 points each.
Import Riley Grigsby paced Ginebra with 25 points. RJ Abarrientos and Troy Rosario each had 13 points, Jonathan Gray had 11, and Stephen Holt and Japeth Aguilar had 10 apiece.
