Pagasa rolls out ‘PANaHon’ app
TIMELY weather updates can now be accessed close to real-time through a mobile app launched by the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (Pagasa).
The Pagasa National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network or PANaHON mobile application was introduced during the observance of the Typhoon and Flood Awareness week, a report by Philstar said.
The app features an interactive map that provides near real-time weather data and is accessible to hydrometeorological information.
Through the application, users can receive timely updates, including tropical cyclone bulletin, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall warning and advisories.
Users are able to receive notifications of possible warnings and alerts specific to their area and other locations they choose to monitor.
PANaHON offers hourly weather forecasts and a five-day outlook, allowing users to check updates in their pinned locations.
PAGASA assured that the app complies with the Data Privacy Act.
The PANaHON application is available to download for free on Android from Google Play Store or iOS from the Apple App Store.(Jose Daniel Tista, HNU Comm Intern)
