Noynay battles Aranas in Fist of Fury card

THE 10th installment of the Fist of Fury boxing series is shaping up to be a stacked one.

The Chao Sy International Promotion announced that the card billed as “The Eliminator — Philippines vs. China” will feature a title duel between Jemuel Aranas and Jeric Noynay–two fighters who are currently having contrasting runs.

Aranas and Noynay will fight for the World Boxing Foundation Silver Flyweight championship in the card that will take place on May 9 at the Cebu Coliseum.

Headlining the card is the title eliminator for the International Boxing Federation world minimumweight between Ian Abne of the Cebu City-based ARQ Boxing Stable and Chinese contender Zhu Dianxing.

Aranas will be gunning for a second straight win after scoring a unanimous decision win over journeyman Renoel Pael (24W-16L-2D) last March 8 in Cawayan, Masbate.

Aranas, 24, will come into the fight with eight wins, three losses, and one draw. Four of his wins came via knockout.

Noynay, on the other hand, will try to snap out of a slump after losing his last two fights.

A native of Medellin, Cebu, the 24-year-old Noynay kicked off his pro career on a rousing note when he notched five straight wins, including one knockout victory.

Noynay suddenly struggled after a strong start.

Noynay’s latest outing was a fifth-round knockout loss to the hard-hitting Arlando Senoc for the World Boxing Organzation Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight title.(CCM)
