NLEX bucks sluggish start to rout Titan

NOT even a slow start could prevent the NLEX Road Warriors from nailing a lopsided lowout victory as they blew past the Titan Ultra Giant Riers, 147-115, in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Wednesday night, Oct. 14.

NLEX fell behind at the end of the first period, 22-27, and still couldn’t get some headway in the second quarter against a lowly as Titan forged a 65-all standoff at the bend.

Things drastically changed in the third when the Road Warriors exploded for 37 points, allowing them to zoom to a commanding 102-75 lead going into the final quarter.

NLEX went on to seal a 32-point win that tightened its grip on the No. 1 spot in Group A with nine wins against just two losses.

Titan fell to 2-9 (win-loss).

Deonte Burton finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as NLEX improved to 2-0 with him as an import. Robert Bolick added 20 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, Kevin Alas contributed 19 markers, LJ Gonzales tossed in 17, Rob Herndon tallied 16, and Xyrus Torres had 12 in NLEX’s balanced attack.

Joshua Munzon scattered 33 points and Tirrell Brown added 29 for the eliminated Giant Risers.
