EDUARDO Año has resigned from his post as National Security Adviser after more than three years of service under the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Ano cited health reasons for his decision to step down.

Taking his place is retired Air Force general Eduardo Oban Jr., a former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1979.

In a report by Philstar, Malacañang said Año chose to step down to focus on his health, while expressing confidence that Oban will ensure continuity in national security efforts.

Oban brings decades of military and defense experience, including key roles in planning, operations, and international defense agreements. He previously served as AFP chief during the administration of Benigno Aquino III.

Año, who also served as interior secretary under Rodrigo Duterte, thanked the President for his trust and said he believes the country’s security institutions will remain strong under new leadership.(Zsarrhied Samantha A. Tanjay, CTU-TC BAEL-ELSD Intern)
