JOHNRO Electrical tightened its grip on the solo top spot after it nipped RELLM Engineering, 101-84, in the Architects and Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) 9th Corporate Cup over the weekend at the University of San Carlos Downtown Campus Gym in Cebu City.

The deadly trio of Jacob Fernandez, Paolo Munez, and John Cubar combined for 64 points to lead Johnro, which improved to a league-best 7-1 (win-loss).

Fernandez tallied 25 points, two rebounds, and three assists, Munez scored 21 markers and Cubar collected 18 points.

Neil Ibarita erupted for a game-high 29 points but RELLM crashed to 3-5.

On the other hand, CBM Engineering and Avantrac pulled off separate wins to stay within striking distance with Johnro.

Both improving to 6-2, CBM toppled Sinclair Paints, 80-74, while Avantrac whipped EGS Surveying, 83-76.

Sinclair and EGS fell to 4-4 and 2-6, respectively.

Moving to up to 4-4 was Davies Paints, which edged out Dextructures Design, 69-67.

John Therese Buhawe paced Davies Paints with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and three asists. Jay Devenadera and Joseph Cabigas backed Buhawe with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Darwin Gabaca exploded for a game-high 31 points while Rozien Rivera had 18 markers in Dextructuresโ€™ fifth loss in eight games.

Sports & Play, meanwhile, nailed its fifth win in eight games by beating Fenestram, 96-89.

Brit Lebumfacil led Sports & Play with 33 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Jeanne Paolo Perez chipped in 23 points, while Levi Sinson threw in 18.

Fenestram stayed winless after eight games despite getting a whopping 43 points from Christopher Gayotin.(CCM)
