JOHNRO Electrical and Kinsman Engineering sustained their rampaging runs by nipping separate opponents in the Architects and Engineers Basketball Club (AEBC) 8th Corporate Cup over the weeken at the University of San Carlos Downtown Campus Gymnasium.
Johnro kept its immaculate slate intact by beating Avantrac, 73-69, while Kinsman scored its own tight win by downing Buildrite, 84-81.
With the twin victories, Johnro and Kinsman stayed at the upper part of the standings as they improved to 8-0 (win-loss) and 7-1, good for first and second places, respectively.
Ian Manalili and Paulo Munez fired 18 points to lead Johnro, which pulled Avantrac down to 6-2.
Ivan Mark Deo, on the other hand, topped Kinsman with 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a block.
Michael Cinco and John Buhawe fired 21 points apiece but their efforts still failed to save Buildrite from falling to 4-4.
In the other match, Lite Panel tripped Phelps Dodge, 73-61,for its fourth win in eight games.
Led by Tristan Cabrera’s 31-point explosion, Lite actually tied its victim’s slate as Phelps Dodge fell to 4-4.
Also winning was EGS Surveying, which mangled Island Paints, 80-64,
Daffyd Tallido scored 21 points for EGS, which improved to 3-4. Island Paints dropped to 2-6.
Capping the day’s quadruple-header was Rural Bank of Rizal’s 63-58 triumph over Dwightsteel.(CCM)
