SOCIAL media influencers endorsing online casino g will be closely monitored as part of the intensified campaign against illegal electronic gambling sites operating in the country.
Renaro Paraiso, deputy executive director of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), said collaboration with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) will be done as part of the campaign.
Paraiso warned that influencers promoting illegal gambling sites could face prosecution by the CICC.
“We will be in charge of investigating, detecting and blocking (these gaming websites),” Paraiso said in a report by Philippine Star.
Paraiso said the CICC has already monitored 30 e-gaming sites that were not registered with Pagcor.
The CICC is accelerating their efforts to make sure that the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) tear down target gambling platforms and apprehend their operators immediately, Paraiso added.
“We are procuring technologies to allow us to make this happen,” he said. (Marlon Ado Jr., USC Comm Intern)
