CEBUANO boxer Kit Garces showed his readiness for bigger fights when he scored an impressive win in the Prime War 6 boxing card on Wednesday night, December 19, at the Taboan Sports Complex in Cebu City.

Garces stopped Surigao City’s Kier Clenton Espere in the eighth round of their non-title fight in the card co-promoted by Prime Stag Sports and Cebu City Government.

Garces sealed his sixth career knockout win with a left body shot that sent Espere crashing to the canvas.

Referee Rey Caitom Jr. counted Espere out, ending the match at the 1:11 mark of the eighth stanza as Garces improved to 8W-1L.

Espere fell to 8W-7L-1D.

“I’m happy that I was able to execute the game plan. I just tried to be patient. I knew he got hurt when I hit him in the body so I just finished him off,” said the Talisay City-native Garces.

Atty. Jigo John Dacua, president of Prim Stags Sports, Garces has received a lot of offers but the team is still weighing their options.

“We saw that he is already ripe for a title shot. He was supposed to fight in Thailand but he got injured but there are a lot of offers and we will study these offers,” said Dacua.

Garces was supposed to contend for a vacant World Boxing Council Asian title against Danai Ngiabphukhiaw.

An injury forced Garces to pull out from the fight. He was replaced by Michael Adolfo, who went on to lose to Ngiabphukhiaw via knockout.(CCM)
