IT’S a ‘Blooming’ moment for Philippine tourism as BINI takes on a new national role.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has named the all-female group BINI as its newest tourism ambassadors, formalizing a partnership highlighted by a recent courtesy visit in Makati.

The group, composed of Jhoanna, Maloi, Stacey, Sheena, Gwen, Aiah, Colet, and Mikha, was accompanied by Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi during their meeting with Tourism Secretary Maria Bernardita “Dita” Angara-Mathay.

During the engagement, Mathay welcomed the group and emphasized the influence of young creatives in shaping wider public engagement.

“I am so happy. They have so many ideas. Sometimes the young people can direct a whole generation, a whole bureaucracy to go a certain direction, which will connect with the larger population. They are delightful and talented people,” she said in a Manila Bulletin report.

The DOT also highlighted BINI’s existing role in promoting Filipino culture through their public image and artistic choices.

Assistant Secretary Ren Sapitan said the group has long been seen as cultural ambassadors even before the formal designation, noting that their public image, performances, and use of traditional Filipino elements already reflect a strong sense of national pride, making formal recognition by the government a natural step.

BINI leader Jhoanna Robles shared the group’s openness to contributing ideas for tourism initiatives, saying they plan to coordinate internally given that members come from different provinces. She added that the group is grateful for government support as their platform continues to expand.

The DOT said it is also looking to work with other Filipino figures with international reach, including SB19 and tennis player Alex Eala, as part of broader efforts to promote Filipino talent globally.(MyTVCebu)
