IT’S still several months away but the city of Danao in northern Cebu is already abuzz as it gears for one of its biggest sporting events.

Preparations are already underway for the keenly awaited third edition of the Danao City International Ultra Trail slated April 18-19.

The competition will once again showcase the city’s technical terrains and breathtaking landscapes as hundreds of trail runners are expected to test their physical limit in the 100-kilometer, 50K, 35K, and 15K races.

The race’s January 2024 edition drew 594 local and international participants.

The longest distance in the previous edition was only 100 kilometers, where only 14 of the 54 participants managed to finish the lung-busting race.

Andy Toniacao was the race’s champion in the male division after finishing the race in 20 hours, 37 minutes, and 22 seconds. Chloe Base ruled the distaff side, needing 29 hours, 31 minutes, and 43 seconds to complete the race.(CCM)
