Cebu City Niños rule CVIRAA Meet anew
FOR the nth time, the Cebu City Niños emerged as the overall champion in the 2026 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet, which came to a close on Friday, March 21.
After the week-long competition that was hosted by the City of Naga, Cebu City plucked a whopping 351 medals to emerge as the runaway overall champion.
The Niños’ medal haul included 146 gold medals, 100 silvers, and 100 bronzes.
Duplicating a second-place finish last year was Bohol Province, which raked in 84 golds, 85 silvers, and 75 bronzes for a 244-medal harvest.
Finishing third was Cebu Province, which bagged 218 medals, comprising 49 golds, 78 silvers, and 91 bronzes.
Landing at fourth spot was Lapu-Lapu City, which finished with 41 golds, 41 silvers, and 39 bronzes. Completing the Top 5 was Mandaue City with 34 golds, 47 silvers, and 77 bronzes.
Mandaue actually won more medals than Lapu-Lapu, 158-121, but the Oponganons took the fourth spot owing to their bigger gold-medal haul.
Tagbilaran City wound up sixth with 32 golds, 29 silvers, and 67 bronzes while Talisay City ranked seventh with 15 golds, 13 silvers, and 15 bronzes.
Toledo City wound up eighth with a 15-9-16 (g-s-b) tally followed by Danao City, which collected 11 golds, 8 silvers and 31 bronzes.
Carcar City took the ninth spot with five golds, 10 silvers, and 11 bronzes.
Naga failed to win a single gold to finish at 11 spot with five silvers and nine bronzes.
Finishing last was Bogo City, which could only come up with a meager harvest of one silver and three bronzes.(CCM)
