CBM Engineering stamps class, defends AEBA Corporate Cup crown

CBM Engineering flexed its muscle once more, winning a second straight crown by drubbing RELLM Engineering, 83-74, in their championship match of the Architects and Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) 9th Corporate Cup over the weekend at the University of San CarlosDowntown Campus Gymnasium.

By defending its title, CBM pocketed a league-tying high third title after also winning the championship in 2023. The United Architects of the Philippines also has three titles after ruling the tournament from 2017 to 2019. The Civil Engineers own the second-most titles after its championships runs in 2016 and 2024.

Leading CBM’s championship finish was Dave Abella, who mounted 23 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one block en route to winning the Finals Most Valuable Player award.

Ivan Deo and James Paradela added 12 points, while Reclear Navarro and Jonathan Sotes contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

RELLM was led by Andrew Egot, who piled up 20 points, along with four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Neil Ibarita added 18 points. Joemari Buhion had 10 in the loss.

Abella and Egot led the Mythical Five that also included CBM’s Jett Latonio, Johnro Electrical's Paolo Munez, and Avantrac's Jemcerson Sable.

Jan Manalili took home the “Most Assists” award, while Deo secured the “Most Steals” accolade. Dextructures' Dexter Estilloro took home the “Most Rebounds” award and CBM's Navarro bagged the “Most Blocks” honors.

Darwin Gabaca of Dextructures also went home with an award after emerging as the league’s deadly scorer as he wrested the “Most Points” award.(CCM)
