Capitol eyes more help for Mindanao quake victims
THE Cebu Provincial Government continues to assess what additional help it could provide to the victims of the 7.8-magnitude quake that hit areas in Southern Mindanao.
This, as the Capitol intends to extend financial assistance to other local governnment units affected by the tremor last Monday, June 8.
Dennis Pastor, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDDRMO), is currently in the Saranggani Province with his team to help in the relief operations, bringing with them the initial assistance to the affected communities.
The PDDRMO brought a water truck from Cebu and sent another two wing vans, carrying 500 family food packs, 500 bottles of watter, 500 hygiene kits, 500 sleeping ktis, and boxes of ready-to-eat meals.
Pastor also handed the P10 million financial assistance that the Cebu Provincial Government donated to General Santos.
Pastor said General Santos has shifted to the early recovery stage since almost all of the missing persons have been accounted for already.
He said the city is slowly transitioning to rehabiliation phase after terminating the search and rescue operations.
Pastor had an audience with Saranggani Gov. Rogelio Pacquiao where he was told about the province's urgent needs.
"Ang ilang immediate needs didto is water and maybe food, shelter. Mao sad nay instruction ni Gov (Baricuatro) nga magpadala siya og tabang aside sa financial assistance," Pastor said.(MyTVCebu)
