CABC Final 4 cast complete as Corr Chem dumps EZ Pavers

CORR Chem completed an upset after it dumped EZ Pavers, 86-71, in their do-or-die quarterfinal match on Sunday, July 26, in the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 8th Corporate Cup at the Game Changer Sports Complex in Mandaue City.

With the win, Corr Chem completed the semifinal cast, joining Landlite, Boysen, and SR&T. The semifinal round will be played on August 2 with Corr Chem taking on top seed SR&T and Boysen clashing with Landlite.

Corr Chem, ranked as the No. 5 seed, successfully overhauled a twice-to-win handicap after it duplicated its previous win over the fourth-ranked EZ Pavers.

Corr Chem stayed alive after thrashing EZ Pavers last week, 109-95, setting the stage for a sudden-death match.

Corr Chem proved the win was no fluke as it chalked up another dominant win behind Jyrell Allanic.

Allanic tallied a game-high 24 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals to earn Best Player of the Game honors.

Kent Tauto-an and Rei Aureo backed Allanic with identical double-double performances of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Miguel Cenabre added 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists in the win.

The eliminated EZ Pavers was led by Aaron Yang, who finished with 20 points and nine rebounds.(CCM)
