Bohol pug battles Taiwanese foe as full ‘Kumong Bol-anon 25’ slate bared
A TITLE unification duel between a Boholano boxer and a Taiwanese fighter will headline the 25th installment of the “Kumong Bol-anon” boxing series.
Slated July 11 at the Holy Name University Barder Gymnasium in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, the card put up by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions will have Joseph “The Hunter” Sumabong taking on Jheng Ciou for the unified World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific and World Boxing Council/Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation minimumweight titles.
The full slate of the card was formally announced by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions headed by lawyer-sportsman Floriezyl Podot.
Sumabong’s fellow PMI Bohol Boxing Stable fighters Shane “Sugar Shane” Gentallan and Leonard Pores III will also see action in the card.
Gentallan, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia light flyweight champion, will take on China’s Xiaokang Song in a 10-round non-title encounter.
Gentallan is on a seven-fight winning streak. He holds a 14W-1L record with the lone loss dealt by Song’s compatriot DianXing Zhou in 2023.
Song has six wins, one by knockout, and three defeats.
On the other hand, the unbeaten Pores III(10-0, 7 KOs),who is the reigning IBF Youth flyweight champion, will clash with the veteran Renoel Pael (24W-17L-2D, 12KOs) in a 10-round bout.
The card will also feature former world title challengers Christian Balunan (13-1, 8 KOs) and Reymart Tagacanao (12-1, 10 KOs).
Balunan will take on Arvin John Sampaga (8-5-1, 3 KOs) while Tagacanao will tangle with Jessie Bell Goltiano (7-7, 4 KOs).
Other undercard fights will have Jericho Acaylar going up against Michael Adolfo, Sugarey Leonard Pores battling Venjie Patac, and Dryxs Russel Sardalla colliding with Jethro Illusorio.(CCM)
