Avantrac, Johnro start AEBA hoops campaign with lopsided wins
AVANTRAC and Johnro Electrical chalked up lopsided wins for a rousing start in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) 9th Corporate Cup on Saturday, April 25, at the University of Carlos Downtown Campus Gym in Cebu City.
Avantrac outplayed Sports & Play, 71-51, while Johnro Electrical demolished Dextructures, 95-48.
Jemcerson Sable had the hot hands for Avantrac as he made six of his seven attempts from three-point range to finish with a game-high 35 points. He also had three rebounds and two assists.
Noriko Benedicto backed Sable with 10 markers.
Sports & Play was led by Kary Kaye Pacaña and John Ryan Jumao-as with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Pejee Codeniera, on the other hand, led Johnro with 15 points with Paolo Muñez tossing in 11 markers.
It was actually a balanced attack for Johnro as all 14 players who saw action made it to the scoring column with seven tallying at least seven points each.
Rozien Rivera led Dexstructures with 14 points while Dexter Estilloro threw in 13.
Three other teams posted their own victories on the opening day.
Sinclairnipped EGS, 69-62, Davies took down Fenestram, 70-64, while CBM Engineering defeated RELLM, 83-72.
Highlighting the opening day was the selection of best muse with Davies’ Marian Bee winning the Miss Corporate Cup 2026 crown.
Princess Joesel Mae Bajamonde of RELLM and Mary Beth Ed Martel of Dextructures finished first and second runners-up, respectively.(CCM)
