BACK in action after a long layoff, Dave “The Hunter” Peñalosa targets a third straight win when he sees action in the ‘Fist of Fury’ fight card on June 28 at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.
The 34-year-old Peñalosa will battle Chinese prospect Weiyi Jiang in the main event of the card put up by Chao Sy Boxing Promotions of Cebuano sports patron Lorenzo “Chao” Sy.
Peñalosa and Jiang will fight for a regional World Boxing Foundation (WBF) title.
Peñalosa, the son of former world champion Dodie Boy Peñalosa Sr. and nephew of boxing legend Gerry Peñalosa, is just fighting for the third time after a two-year ring inactivity.
Dave ended the hiatus with two straight wins. He marked his return with a unanimous decision win over Vicente Casido last February in Talisay City, Cebu. He followed up that win with another triumphant outing last April.
Peñalosa has 19 wins, 12 by knockout, and one loss.
Jiang is just starting as a pro fighter, winning two of three fights.
The card will also have undefeated Cebuano prospect Vicente Unidos (4-0, 3 KOs) taking on fellow undefeated fighter Tuohatasen Sailibieke of China (5-0, 3 KOs).
The supporting bout will see Jefre Jimenez (4-0, 2 KOs) going up against Marlon Alejandro (6-7-2, 1 KO) for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation title.(CCM)
