FILIPINOS in the Middle East will get to see their favorite hardcourt players as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will be holding official games in Bahrain in December.
League commissioner Willie Marcial announced that three PBA teams will fly to Bahrain to play two games on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17.
Bahrain Basketball Association president Alaa Mudara said it will be the first time that PBA games will be played in their country.
The pair of PBA matches will be part of the celebration of Bahrain’s National Day on Dec. 16, Mudara said.
The PBA has previously held overseas games in Dubai in 2019 where Barangay Ginebra, San Miguel Beer, and NLEX saw action.
Marcial said the format that was used in Dubai will also be applied in the Bahrain matches.
Marcial added that the PBA games in Bahrain will be part of the league’s 50th anniversary celebration, which will also feature a set of games in Dubai by October.
Marcial said other plans are still being worked on that could pave the way for more PBA games to be played in other Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.(CCM)
