A MAN who was claimed to be mentally unstable fatally stabbed his neighbor in Sibonga town, southern Cebu.

Police said there was no provacation when Roderic Montella Campos repeatedly stabbed 39-year-old Christian Mendez Ferrer around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Police investigation showed that the victim was sitting outside a store in Barangay Centro Poblacion when the suspect arrived.

Without a word, the suspect drew a knife and attacked the victim. Witnesses told police that the suspect casually walked away after the incident.

The victim, who suffered 11 stab wounds, was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

The suspect was later arrested in his home.

Relatives said the suspect used to work abroad. He started acting strangely when he went home following his father's death.

Gilbert, the suspect's brother, told police that Roderic skipped taking his maintenance medicine and that he may have been not in the right frame of mind when he attacked his neighbor.

The suspect, however, had a different version.

Police said the suspect claimed that he was a victim of his neighbor's constant bullying that drove him to commit the crime.

Police said a charge for murder will be filed against the suspect.(CDB)
