2 Filipino tourists die in Germany bus crash

TWO Filipino tourists in Germany died when a bus transporting them from Milan to Munich’s Oktoberfest beer festival overturned on a motorway on Sunday.

The Philippine consulate general in Frankfurt reported that eight other Filipino tourists were also seriously injured in the road crash, a report by Philstar said.

The consulate is closely coordinating with some of the Filipino nationals and their relatives affected by the bus accident on the A96 near Buchloe, west of Munich in Bavaria.

The consulate is also working to ascertain the whereabouts and condition of all Filipino nationals involved.

“PCG Frankfurt confirms that two individuals have died in the accident. A number have been brought to various hospitals in Bavaria for treatment of their injuries while the rest are safe in the care of the Red Cross,” the consulate said in a statement.

The victims were part of a group of 33 Filipinos who were on the trip.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all those affected by this tragic incident,” the German embassy in Manila said.

The embassy said German local emergency services quickly acted to assist the passengers and ensure that all injured individuals received swift medical care.

“Local authorities in Bavaria are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident,” it said.(MyTVCebu)
